- Effective Web Site Design
Your new job assignment is to design a web site, but you are not sure how to get started? This class will teach you the steps from conception to implementation. You will identify your purpose and audience, outline the content, set up the navigation structure and design the look and feel. At the end of this class you will have a plan for your web site
- HTML/XHTML
HTML is the language of web pages. You will learn the basic coding behind the creating of a web page, starting with the proper structure and syntax for an HTML page. You will master the tags for placing text on the page, creating hyperlinks, inserting images, placing content in tables and creating forms for user input. At the end of the class series you will have the skills to create a basic web page.
- Cascading Style Sheets (CSS)
HTML creates the basic structure for the content of a web page. CSS adds the formatting and presentation. Using CSS is like hiring an interior designer for your web site CSS allows you to control the look and feel of individual elements or the entire site. In this class you will learn the proper syntax for creating style sheets. You will learn to control color, fonts, text, backgrounds, and placement of content on your web pages. At the completion of this class, you will be able to create style sheets to control the appearance of your site.
- Web Accessibility
Accessibility is rapidly becoming a requirement for web pages. Making your web site accessibility makes it possible for people with visual, auditory, physical or mental handicaps to interact with your web site. This class will teach you what is required to meet Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act and how to make the necessary changes to your web site. At the end of this class you will be able to update your web site to meet the legal requirements of Section 508.
- Adobe Dreamweaver
Dreamweaver is the professional’s choice for creating web pages. Once you understand the basic coding behind a web page (XHTML and CSS), you are ready to learn to use this tool preferred by most web designers. You will learn how to create all the elements of a web page using Dreamweaver’s graphical interface. You will also learn how to use Dreamweaver’s site management capabilities to make it easier to manage your web site. Dreamweaver’s advanced features allow you to enhance the usability and design of your web site. At the end of this class sequence you will have you the skills to make your web site truly professional.
- Adobe Flash
Flash allows you to create Rich Internet Applications (RIAs) for your site. You will learn how to use Flash’s vector drawing tools, import images, utilize mask effects, work with layers, and add interactive buttons to your site. At the end of this class you will be able to create basic animations and integrate them into your web site
- Adobe Fireworks
Fireworks is ADobe's application for creating and integrating web graphics in your site. With Fireworks you can import images from all major graphic applications. You can work with either bitmap or vector images, and easily export them to Dreamweaver or Flash. At the end of this class you will be able to manipulate and optimize graphics in the appropriate format and include them on your web site
- Adobe Photoshop Elements
Photoshop Elements is Adobe’s digital imaging software for the amateur photographer or small business user looking for reasonably priced software. Elements enables users to perform the most common image corrections and manipulations without a steep learning curve. At the end of this class you will be able to remove red eye, correct exposure, and repair damaged photos. This class provides a good basic foundation for working on images for the web.
- Adobe Photoshop
Adobe Photoshop is one of the most powerful image processing software applications on the market today. Unfortunately, with power comes complexity and Photoshop is no exception. These classes introduce users to Photoshop’s selection tools, image retouching techniques, and the power of layers. You will also learn about working with images shot in the Raw format, and techniques for creating photo galleries and montages for your web site. Photoshop integrates smoothly with Adobe ImageReady – Adobe’s web graphics tool. At the end of this course sequence you will be able to perform a wide range of image corrections and manipulations, create animations, roll-overs, and image quilts and to optimize graphics appropriately for inclusion on your site.
- Adobe Illustrator
Adobe Illustrator is the benchmark vector drawing tool for use primarily in print documents. It integrates smoothly with InDesign as well as Photoshop and Dreamweaver. Instruction includes Bezier curves, blends and fills, tracing scanned art, and advanced text manipulation. At the end of this course sequence you will be able to create original graphics and format them appropriately for either print of web use.
- Adobe InDesign
Adobe InDesign is the professional page layout program to produce print documents. You will learn about master pages, importing and placing text graphics on a page, wrapping text around your graphics, and including color on your pages. When your document is complete you can prepare it for print, convert it to PDF, or export it as web pages. InDesign is used for newsletters, brochures, flyers, and business cards, as well as for assembling books with comprehensive tables of contents and indices. At the end of this course sequence you will be able to plan and create a variety of types of print documents in support of your web presence.
- Adobe Acrobat
Everybody’s doing it – sharing PDF files on their web site and across the company intranet. Maybe you know how to save a Word document as a PDF file, but do you know what else you can do with Adobe Acrobat? Learn about bookmarks, combining PDF files, extracting content, and using PDF as a document review tool. Advanced features include creating interactive forms which users can fill out and submit online. At the end of this course sequence you will be able to create, manipulate, and utilize PDF documents for both print and electronic distribution.
